" the scootering/skijoring has been wonderful for the dogs and myself, it has strengthened our bond. Best of all I can set the dogs up to be good because they love scootering and skijoring......it's a win win situation. Happy, tired dogs are good dogs !
Thanks again for helping us."

Lynn

"My 18 month old standard poodle, like many young dogs, has always been highly distracted on neighhood walks. when we pass people and especially other dogs. He used to strain on his leash, lunge at them and pay scant attention to my "no's" and "Let's go's". Thanks to our Skijoring lessons, we now have positive commands that are working for both of us: "haw or over gee" to move him left or right and "on by" to pass. He is learning that Skijoring and street walking are not times to play with other dogs. Our daily walks have become less stressful and more fun for both of us."

What is Skijoring?

Skijoring is a new and fast growing sport ! It combines cross-country skiing and dog mushing. Skijoring literally means ski-driving in Norwegian, as this sport originated in Scandinavia. Skijoring allows both dog and owner to exercise together as a team as you glide across the snow enjoying the great outdoors.

Why go Skijoring?

Great canine fitness training for your dog during the winter, as well as for yourself. Perfect way for both of you to stay healthy, fit and get lots of fresh air ! Keep your agility dog in top shape, and keep your dog's mind active learning new things. Just have FUN.

Your Dog will Love it

Most dogs just love to skijor. They enjoy the exercise, getting to meet other dogs and people, the outdoor scents, and being with their owners. Why just walk your dog if you can learn to skijor.

Breed of Dog Used

Any breed of dog that is at least 14 kg. (30 lbs.) and loves to run can learn to skijor. They must be in good health. Younger dogs that are still growing can still learn to skijor, but you should check with your vet regarding the amount of exercise your breed of dog should have.

Why Train Your Dog ?

You and your dog will learn the correct skijoring commands. These commands will help your dog to learn to skijor. You will learn to skijor safely (not into the nearest tree). You will learn how to do some exercises for your dog before you begin skijoring and after your dog has finished, to prevent injury to your dog. You will learn how to properly fit skijoring equipment on your dog and yourself. You will learn trail etiquette. The Tellington TTouch method of training will be used. This is great socialization for you and your dog. Join our Fun Skijoring Outings and come out with our group.
All who wish to join will be contacted by e-mail.
